Whether on land or by water, the free Sun Trolley Tracker App now makes it even easier to leave the car at home and use public transportation to get around Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. The real-time desktop and smartphone app allow residents and visitors to the Town to easily and conveniently select the route they need.

The app is accessible on smartphones, Apple and Android devices, desktop computers and laptops. The Pelican Hopper is the latest addition to the app, which also tracks real-time locations of all seven Sun Trolley routes and the Riverwalk Water Trolley.

The App’s main purpose is enabling visitors and residents alike to have a true sense of when the Pelican Hopper will arrive at their particular stop for pickup. Additionally, they can plan their connections to the Sun Trolley and leave their car at home or at their hotel.

The Pelican Hopper was added following various customer requests to the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association, who manages the Sun Trolley, to allow for better connections between the two routes.

“The Pelican Hopper and Sun Trolley’s Galt Link intersect at the Galt Ocean Mile Reading Center and the Fort Lauderdale Beach Community Center and the two routes share a similar customer base,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale TMA, in the company’s press release. “We’ve received customer requests for better connections between the two routes, and adding the Pelican Hopper to the tracker app is a good first step in improving that connection.”

Completely connecting the various modes of public transportation in one simple app enhances and encourages walkability throughout the Town. It allows both residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the many waterfront restaurants and businesses without the hassle of keeping track of charges at a parking meter or garage.

According to the TMA, approximately 40,000 passengers per month utilize the Sun Trolley which operates seven routes connecting residents, tourists and working professionals from Fort Lauderdale’s neighborhoods to Broward County Transit and Tri-Rail as well as destinations such as Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Fort Lauderdale beach, Broward County Courthouse and the Galleria Mall.

There are 28 key destinations listed on the Sun Trolley tracker app website, including several spots in downtown like Las Olas along with parks, museums, galleries, attractions and malls.

The Tracker App can be downloaded for free from the App or Google Play stores or by visiting www.suntrolley.com/sun-trolley-tracker where those key destinations are listed.
