If you’re looking for some activities for your little ones, pack up the car and come spend a day outdoors in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (LBTS)! Whether it’s playing in the sand or hunting for treasures in our colorful town, LBTS has plenty of activities for the youngest members of your family to enjoy safely outdoors. Check out our top 5 things to do with kids in LBTS:

  1. Play classic schoolyard games- with a twist.

Remember Red Light, Green Light, I Spy, and Simon Says? Enjoy playing these childhood favorites with your kids… on the beach! Feel the sand in your toes and the ocean breeze on your shoulders while chasing one another along our two miles of white sand beaches. I spy with my little eye, something that is yellow…

  1. Make your own scavenger hunt to find hidden treasures.

Our little town is filled with colorful and quirky pieces of art. Create a list with your family, break up into teams, and take pictures with each item on your list as you find it. The first team to complete the scavenger hunt wins a milkshake or sweet treat.

Need a few ideas to get you started? We recommend trying to find these iconic LBTS treasures:

  • A pelican (statues or real birds welcome)
  • A fish bike rack
  • A seashell
  • A fish out of water
  • A diver down flag
  • An iconic beach photo (be sure to tag us!)
  1. Enjoy the breezy weather in one of our shaded parks.

After a few hours in the sun, relax and cool off in one of our quaint little parks. The Washingtonia Portal has shade and showers to rinse off after the beach. If you’re looking for kid-friendly meals or snacks to go, check out our locally-owned eateries. Many of our restaurants offer kid-friendly menus or grab-and-go options when you need to eat quickly to keep up with the little ones.

  1. Shoot some hoops or take a stroll through town.

The fun in the sun doesn’t stop at the beach in our little town. Head across A1A and let your kiddos roam on our reopened playground behind Town Hall, or organize a game of HORSE on the basketball courts. There are bathrooms conveniently located in the park, just in case anyone needs to take a quick break.

  1. Get your legs moving with an easy stroll through town and see the fish sculptures in each plaza.

Follow our handy walking map and explore from one end of our beach town to the other. There are plenty of charming little family-owned shops to pick-up mementos and sweets along the way.

Be sure to share your favorite photos from a day outdoors with the little ones on social media and tag us on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #LoveLBTS for a chance to be featured on the Town’s feeds.

Grab some sunscreen, flip flops, and your camera to enjoy one of the many kid-friendly activities our little town has to offer. Relax… you’re here.
