Once you’ve checked into your hotel, it’s time to hit the beach. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is the ideal spot to cue vacay mode. The walkable beach town may only cover one square mile, but it packs in all the old-Florida charm with midcentury architecture and low-rise-only developments. There are boutiques and restaurant-lined streets and beachfront parks (like the ever-popular El Prado)—as well as a diverse ocean habitat underneath the surface, thanks to a three-tiered natural coral-reef system. For dinner, Sea Watch on the Ocean serves up the freshest catches in the area.
