Our small beachfront town, on the southeast coast of Florida, is the perfect relaxing and romantic beach getaway spot for couples. With beautiful white sand beaches, low-rise, family-owned hotels, shopping, and many dining options – Lauderdale-By-The-Sea invites you and your special someone to discover why our motto is “Relax, You’re Here.”
From the Ocean to The Intracoastal, It’s All Here
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is just a stroll from the Atlantic Ocean west to the picturesque Intracoastal Waterway. While on a romantic stroll through Town you’ll find beautiful marine sculptures, locally owned shops with artisan treasures and gift items, as well as a variety of eateries, ice cream shops, and bakeries along the way. Our Town Walking Map is a handy guide for your visit to our charming beachfront town.
Things to Do, In and Around the Water
Recognized as “Florida’s Beach Diving Capital,” our shoreline is teeming with marine life less than 100 yards off the beach. Enjoy snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and paddle boarding right off our beaches. For more leisurely activities, picnic in our seaside parks, soak up the sun on the beach, or relax poolside. Of course, a romantic stroll or fishing from the historic pier over the ocean is a wonderful experience. We’re also a designated “Blue Wave Beach,” a distinction given to clean and environmentally responsible beach communities.
Our public plazas are designed with relaxing in mind: sitting in comfortable Adirondack chairs chatting or people watching, playing outdoor games, listening to live music at various restaurants year-round, or enjoying seasonal dance lessons, yoga classes, farmers’ market, and more.
No Car Needed
The best part about visiting Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is that you don’t need a car to discover all that we have to offer – everything you need is easily reached within a short stroll. There are convenient bike rentals and a free “around town” Pelican Hopper bus. Many hotels offer free bikes, and bike rentals are available, along with our free “around town” Pelican Hopper bus.
We’re A Small Town, And We’re Staying That Way
We take pride in being different from our big city neighbors Fort Lauderdale and Pompano, exuding old Florida charm with our distinctive low-rise, mid-century modern architecture.
We’re a “flip-flop kind of town,” and we welcome you and your partner to come relax and enjoy our beach life with us!
